HORACE, ND (KFGO AM) -- Customers of the Horace Post Office have organized to fight any plan to reduce hours of retail service and replace the postmaster with a part-time staff.
John Koerselman of "Concerned Citizens of 58047" tells KFGO News the Horace Post Office serves a growing area and cutting back hours doesn't make sense.
The group is asking the state's congressional delegation and the Horace City Council to support their effort.
Postal Service spokesman Peter Nowacki says in order to keep rural post offices open, the postal service is revising weekday window hours based on customer use.
The Horace operation is now open seven and a half hours daily.
The Postal Service has proposed a reduction to 6 hours.
He says before any changes take place, customers are surveyed and there will be a public meeting.
