WEST FARGO, ND (KFGO AM) -- A new gated community within West Fargo city limits took a big step forward last night, with unanimous approval from the city's planning and zoning commission.
Several lots are being proposed within what's called the Stonewood Development, nestled on the Sheyenne river off 32nd avenue east.
The proposal includes a six-foot solid fence.
Before Monday night's vote, the planning commission heard from people living in nearby developments.
They expressed concerns to commission members and the developer and asked whether there is a need for a gated community in West Fargo.
The planning commission's approval included that neighborhood concerns would be considered in detailed development plans.
West Fargo's full commission must still agree to the proposal.
That vote could come sometime in April, with construction beginning shortly after that.
