DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) - A 71-year-old North Dakota woman who dropped out of high school to help on the family farm finally has her diploma.
Katherine Schuler graduated this month with her GED diploma during a ceremony at Lake Region State College. She earned it earlier this year through an adult education center at the college.
The newspaper reports Schuler wanted to set a good example for her grandchildren. She started working toward her diploma in November, studying for four hours a day while working a full-time and part-time job.
The grandmother has been nominated to be North Dakota's adult student of the year. She'll find out whether she won later this year.
