WEST FARGO (KFGO-AM) - The Mayor of West Fargo says the City Commission's 4-1 vote against the special assessment for the FM Diversion was meant to send a message to the board that oversee's the proposed near $2 billion project.
Rich Mattern calls the Diversion Authority a "bully" and that its way of handling things is "do it our way or hit the highway." He says the formula used to count votes by property owners is stacked in favor of Fargo and Cass County governments and isn't fair to private property owners.
Even with West Fargo's vote against the assessment, recent "yes" votes by the Fargo and Cass County Commissioners total nearly 58%, more than enough for the assessment to pass.
