BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Three high school students from North Dakota are set to participate in an international robotics competition.

The students from Shiloh Christian School will drive to St. Louis to take part in the world championship, where they'll discover how their robot measures against 127 others. The competition starts Wednesday.

Students Elliott Stone, Adam Erickson and Nicholas Reynolds say that they are hoping to finish in the top 10 at the FIRST Tech Challenge. They placed 42nd at the world competition last year.

The robot from the Bismarck school has a "baseball pitcher" feature that thrusts balls into the air.

Adviser Bruce Vadnais says the students have spent several hundred hours working on their project. He adds that their effort is "about the same commitment as playing basketball."
