GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO-AM) -- The highway patrol says a truck driven by a Miami, Fl. man was the cause of a series of grass fires Wed. afternoon on I-29 between Joliette and Grand Forks.
Smoke reduced visibility and there were several collisions including a 10-vehicle wreck in which eight people were hurt.
The investigation determined that pieces of hot coal were dropping from a conveyor system that was on a semi trailer. A trooper spotted the truck near Grand Forks.
No charges have been filed against the driver. The truck, owned by a Chicago company, was headed to Wisconsin.
