BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A Bismarck woman accused of embezzling money from a high school dance team has changed her plea to guilty.
Thirty-four-year-old Melissa Weltz faces up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine for felony theft. A sentencing date was not immediately scheduled.
Authorities allege Weltz stole nearly $18,000 from the Bismarck High School Demonettes Booster Club while serving as treasurer. Defense attorney Justin Vinje questions the total, and says Weltz has already repaid $12,500.
