BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper has resigned amid investigations into possible misconduct.

The patrol says Jeremie Meisel quit on Monday, about a month after being placed on administrative leave.

The state crime bureau investigated whether Meisel wrote out tickets that he did not actually issue, to make it appear that he was writing more tickets. The Burleigh County State's Attorney's Office declined to prosecute, but the Highway Patrol was still in the midst of an internal investigation when Meisel resigned.

Meisel joined the patrol in 2005. A telephone listing for him was not in service Friday.
