DILWORTH, MINN. (KFGO-AM) - Talk about Minnesota nice.
This winter, the City of Dilworth launched an initiative called "Shovel Dilworth." Mayor Chad Olson said it's a good samaritan kind of thing that's kicked into high gear with recent snowfall.
Residents are encouraged clear snow off their own sidewalks, help neighbors shovel theirs or adopt a section of sidewalk, a bus stop or fire hydrant.
While there are ordinances that enforce snow removal, Olson said "an approach like this is an attempt to change the culture of how we do things in northern Minnesota." As far as he knows, the idea is unique to Dilworth.
Response has been positive and Olson's seen residents take it to heart.
Those who register through the city website, or those nominated for their good shoveling deeds are also eligible to win a $25 gift card.
