BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO-AM)  More than $10 million in federal aid have been authorized to fund water system projects at three North Dakota Indian Reservations.

The funding from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation will be used to construct and upgrade water supply projects on the Standing Rock, Spirit Lake and Turtle Mountain Indian Reservations.

The money will also benefit other infrastructure plans including a sludge handling facility for the new Dickinson Water Treatment Plant.

U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp says these funds will make a substantial impact in communities throughout North Dakota ``that have dealt with the challenges of insufficient infrastructure for far too long.''

U.S. Sen. John Hoeven says these water grants will help build infrastructure that is vital for the quality of life of rural communities.
