LINCOLN, N.D. (KFGO-AM) Petitioners in Lincoln are trying to remove the town's mayor from office.
A seven-member committee filed to begin a recall petition this week. Petitioners hope to oust Mayor Bob Johnston from office.
The group cites credibility, misuse of his position and handling of city funds as the reason the recall.
In October, the mayor vetoed a plan by city council members to fix water drainage issues in the city. He also vetoed a councilmember's motion to allow the council to override a mayor's veto with a two-thirds vote.
Johnston declined to comment on the matter.
Petitioners need to collect at least 25 percent of the total votes cast in the June 2012 election in Lincoln.
