MINOT, N.D. (KFGO-AM)  A former officer at Minot Air Force Base convicted of leading a violent gang has been sentenced to 25 years at the U.S. Penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Leon Brown the Fourth was an Air Force captain. Brown was convicted recently on charges including sexual assault of a child younger than 16, distributing marijuana and psilocybin and conduct unbecoming of an officer for organizing a violent street gang.

A military judge found Brown guilty following a trial at the base in December. He was also dismissed from the Air Force.

Civilian law enforcement told the Air Force in January 2012 that Brown was being investigated for several crimes. Brown had been assigned to the 742nd Missile Squadron. He was later reassigned to the 91st Missile Wing Safety Office.
