GARRISON, N.D. (KFGO-AM) Garrison residents are deciding the fate of a proposed $5.9 million school bond.
It's the fourth school bond election in less than two years in the central North Dakota community of about 1,450 people. If approved Thursday, the money would pay for expansion projects at the town's elementary school and high school.
Garrison voters rejected school bonds in November 2012, October 2013 and November 2014. In the last election, the bond issue failed to pass by seven votes, or less than 1 percent. A bond issue requires at least 60 percent approval.
A $5.9 million bond issue would raise property taxes for the owner of a $150,000 home by about $150 per year.
