FARGO (KFGO-AM) About a dozen people have applied to be the next director of the Red River Regional Dispatch Center in Fargo. Byron Sieber plans to retire in May or June from the job he's held the past 8 years.
Fargo Fire Chief Steve Dirksen, on the board that oversee's dispatch operations, says a national search for Sieber's replacement kicked off just before Christmas. Applications close January 23. He says a committee will narrow the field to 3 to 5 finalists who will be brought in for what he says will be "intensive interviews" March 1, with a new director selected sometime after that.
The annual salary ranges from $85,000 to $111,000, depending on experience. The Regional Dispatch Center employs 41 full time employees and serves 57 public safety agencies in Cass and Clay counties.
Prior to being hired as dispatch director in 2008, Sieber spent more than 31-years with the Grand Forks Police Department.
