Minot, N.D. (AP) A group of dog owners is preparing to fight a ban on pit bulls in Minot.
The group is active on Facebook at Rally in the Valley to end BSL in Minot, and is circulating petitions to appeal the ban to the city council. "BSL'' is an acronym for breed specific laws.
Group Spokesman Will Payne says that dog aggression is not a breed-specific trait. He says if dogs are treated with love and compassion they will act in kind, regardless of breed.
More than 700 cities across the country have breed-specific laws. The Minot group recently supported an effort to try to repeal a ban in nearby Burlington, but the city council there rejected the plea.
