Minot, N.D. (AP) North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem has ruled against the city of Minot in an open records complaint filed by the former city attorney.
Stenehjem says city officials improperly charged Attorney Colleen Auer for the time the city spent compiling, organizing, forwarding, scanning and printing electronic records, and corresponding with others about the record requests she submitted.
The city charged Auer $2,995 for the records. Stenehjem has given the city seven days to modify its billing practices for records requests.
Auer was fired may 2 after only about a month on the job for alleged insubordination. She earlier filed grievances with the State Labor Department and the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for alleged harassment and wrongful termination.
