FARGO (KFGO-AM) Fargo City Planning Director Jim Gilmour and a top official of R.D. Offutt Company met Thursday to finalize the company's proposed joint venture project for a downtown parking ramp.
The Offutt Company would own half of the 600-space ramp for employees at its new corporate office building planned next to Fort Noks Bar near the corner of NP Avenue and Broadway. The $8 to $9 million ramp would be built on a city-owned parking lot on the south side of NP Avenue, next to the Old Broadway that now has 150 parking spots.
Gilmour says if the deal works, it will be a big boost to downtown, solving some of the chronic parking shortage and creating new business space with street level business space.
Gilmour says the Offutt Company plans to request Renaissance Zone and pilot tax incentives from the city for the office building. He says while details for the building are not complete, it would be 90,000 square feet, larger than the Black Building on Broadway. The tax break requests should be submitted sometime next month.
Monday night, city commissioners will be asked to authorize the planning and finance departments and city attorney to start work on a joint venture agreement for the ramp..
