FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- A plane flown during World War II has been donated to the Fargo Air Museum. The late Gerry Beck, an aviation pioneer, bought it at an auction in Texas in 1984 and flew it back to Wahpeton during a February snow storm.
Toby McPherson of Tall Towers Aviation helped move the plane down I-29 to Fargo Thursday, minus its wings, propeller and tail.
"Once Beck and his crew got the plane home and started looking at it, they discovered it had been far more corroded from the ocean air than they expected. He's lucky to have gotten it home, and to get it in airworthy condition, it would have taken so much work", McPherson said.
Beck and his wife, Cindy, decided the plane would be donated to the Fair Air Mseum some day.
