FARGO (KFGO-AM) - The Fargo City Hall Building Committee met for the first time in three months Wednesday for an update on the design for the new city hall. The committee viewed a digital, 3-D tour of the structure.

Most of the details now being worked out deal with office space and materials that will be used. Architect Terry Stroh said "the city said it wanted something iconic...and I think the atrium space will really make the building."

Mayor Dennis Walaker is keeping his eye on costs. The project was initially pegged at $15 million. That estimate is now between $18 million and $22 million.

The three story structure will be built on what is now part of the Civic Center parking lot and Centennial Hall. The design should be finalized yet this summer, with construction starting next spring and completion in 2016. The current City Hall was built in the 1950's and is cramped and deteriorating.
