FARGO (KFGO-AM) - City Commissioner Dave Piepkorn's idea's about "fixes" for several flood prone traffic routes in Fargo could have "legs." He tells KFGO News he's optimistic after a meeting Thursday with City Engineers.

Piepkorn says he was given some direction and says he'll continue to pursue his idea for a new 12th Avenue North bridge. It would replace the privately owned toll bridge that frequently closes because of flooding.

Piepkorn says an estimate for a new bridge is around $6 million. But he says if Fargo can work with Moorhead and both states on funding, he's optimistic it can be done.

Piepkorn's other priorities, including a new North Broadway bridge to replace the one that floods regularly, could be solved with a new, less expensive bridge at 32nd Avenue North. City Engineer Mark Bittner says he''ll offer support any way he can, but there's a long list of projects all competing for funding.
