ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota state parks will celebrate National Get Outdoors Day with free admission and family fun on Saturday. The Department of Natural Resources will waive the requirement for vehicle permits and provide free admission at all 75 Minnesota state parks and recreation areas on Saturday.
The goal of National Get Outdoors Day is to introduce first-time visitors to the fun of outdoor recreation, especially families with young children. A wide variety of special free programs will take place at parks statewide.
Most parks allow visitors to check out GPS units, binoculars, fishing gear and discovery kits for kids.
And the DNR says Minnesota residents don't need a license to fish at most Minnesota state parks. ___
