FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- What Fargo police say was a routine drug search warrant Thursday turned into something much more serious.
After knocking on the door of an apartment in the 3500 block of 30th Avenue South, police were let in by a three-year old. Lt. Joel Vettel says officers were met with the overwhelming stench of cat urine, piles of garbage, dirty dishes and old food wrappers. Police had to break in a locked bedroom door to find an infant. A one-year old was also in the apartment.
The parents, 32-year old Wesley Gilbert and 23-year old Amanda Gilbert were arrested on drug charges. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were within reach of the children. The children have turned over to the care of Cass County Social Services.
