FARGO (KFGO AM) - The city of Fargo has been awarded a federal grant that will be used nominate a cluster of a half dozen homes to the National Register of Historic Districts.
Assistant City Planner Dawn Mayo calls the area "a little gem tucked away downtown," worthy of preservation.
The houses are just west of the downtown post office, on 3rd Avenue North and 8th Street, built at turn of the last century, designed by nationally renowed architect Milton Bebee. He came to Fargo to build new homes and commercial buildings destroyed by the 1893 fire that gutted downtown.
The process to survey the half block of homes, submit a nomination that must get approval from the State Historical Society and the National Park Service could take several years.
