FARGO (KFGO AM) Get ready for another summer of road construction in Fargo. Major projects are planned along heavily traveled routes.

City Traffic Engineer Jeremy Gorden says the largest will be the $10.6 million dollar widening of 25th Street South to six lanes between 17th and 23rd Avenues.  The work will include widening the bridge over I-94 and a new on-ramp to Eastbound I-94 will be added near Doolittles. About 27,000 vehicles travel the route daily.

Work will also start within the next couple of weeks on reconstruction of 19th Avenue North, between 10th and 18th Streets. The $5 million project will include a new median on 19th, from University Drive to just west of the Fargodome. The median is designed to control pedestrian traffic to and from the Dome with a fence, landscaping and a protected crossing.

A 1.5 mile stretch of 40th Avenue South near the border with West Fargo will also be widened at a cost of $8 million to $9 million.

A plan to widen 13th Avenue South between West Acres and 44th Street may have to wait until next year if bids on several of the road projects come in high.
