MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO-AM) - A California woman suspected of being involved in the theft of thousands of DVD's from Walmart stores in five states is in the Clay County jail.
Twenty-eight-year-old Samantha Velez-Diaz and an accomplice are accused of stealing more than $9,000 in DVD's and Blu-Ray's from the Walmart in Dilworth. The thefts took place nearly two years ago; Velez-Diaz was taken into custody on Tuesday.
Court documents say a male accomplice wheeled the DVD's out the door while Velez-Diaz stopped between the alarm pedestals and acted as a decoy.
Velez-Diaz is believed to be linked to similar Walmart thefts in North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
Investigators say the DVD's were shipped to a suburb of Los Angeles.
The stolen merchandise is valued at more than $100,000.
