HILLSBORO, ND (KFGO-AM) - Investigators say a propane-fueled tankless water heater was the cause of carbon monoxide poisoning that killed four people at a home near Blanchard, ND.
The Traill County Sheriff's Office identified the victims as 53-year-old Ross Matejcek and 27-year-old Ricky Fischer of Blanchard, 24-year-old Margaret Fischer of Portland, ND and 6-year-old Jabin Newmes of Portland.
Four other people in the home were taken to the hospital.
Investigators say the water heater was being used to fill a large swimming pool and was improperly vented.
