West Fargo N.D. - A century year old North Dakota church is making a 30 mile move.

Closing two years ago, the South Pleasant Church in rural Christine will take the place of the Saint John's Church that burned down last summer at Bonanzaville.

With just the sound of the birds, the South Pleasant Church in Christine, North Dakota church sits empty.

Julius Johnson checks up on the church that his family founded and continues to attend until 2 years ago.

"It was really a good experience, it gave us a feeling of family. All the adults cared for all the kids and that was a good thing," said Johnson.

Standing in the same spot since 1890, the church will be moved to the spot where the burned down church stood last summer in Bonanzaville.

Julius will forever have his memories here in Christine, but hopes new memories are made here at Bonanzaville

"We're very happy to see the church being moved and maintained something which we can't afford to do anymore we'd hate to see it go into ruin," said Johnson.

But the move isn't cheap.

Money still needs to be raised for the 30 plus mile move, $150,000 to be exact.

Six generations of the Beaton Family have lived in Cass County.

Mike Beaton and the 31 grandchildren of Frank and Ida Beaton want to help with this historical feat by making a donation.

"Here is a historical church being preserved rather than be runned down or burnt down or just abandoned in some cases in rural North Dakota, that's the case... So it's wonderful that this Bonanzaville exists here and that this church is now going to be a part of it," said Beaton.

The spot, now empty, will soon be filled with a new beginning.

It costs $3,000 per mile to move the church to Bonanzaville.
