MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO-AM) - A Moorhead nursing home employee is accused of removing patches containing the powerful painkiller “Fentanyl” from the bodies of vulnerable patients.

Prosecutors say 56-year-old Sherrie Lynn Walker of Fargo stole the patches while she worked at Eventide Senior Living Communities.

Assistant Clay County Attorney Lori Conroy says Walker admitted to stealing the patches to support her drug addiction. “The nursing home had been alerted that patches were being taken off patients prior to them having expired” Conroy said. “One of the Moorhead Police Dept. detectives set up surveillance in rooms, and were able to identify the employee who had been doing it.”

Conroy says the patches were stolen from at least three patients; in some cases, the patients were asleep.

Walker is charged with neglecting vulnerable adults, felony theft and drug possession. She has until June 25th to turn herself in.
