JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota authorities have identified the 58-year-old man who died after a semi rolled over on Highway 20 near Jamestown.

Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser says Daniel Ray Peterson of Jamestown was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say that Peterson was driving a Central Harvest States 8,500-gallon tanker with diesel fuel to Tolna on Tuesday, when a tire entered the ditch. Peterson was able to keep the rig on the road, but the trailer began to fishtail and the semi entered the east ditch at the next curve, coming to rest on the passenger side.

Kaiser says 4,500 gallons of diesel spilled from the tanker. Firefighters were able to confine the spill to a 100-square-foot area in the east ditch of the highway. Central Valley Health in Jamestown is overseeing the cleanup effort.

Peterson was wearing a seatbelt.
