FARGO (KFGO-AM) Dozens of Fargo Police officers have been recognized for their work in ceremonies at City Hall.
A rare Purple Heart was awarded to Brent Malone. The 25-year old patrol officer was seriously injured in November when he was struck and nearly run over by a van driven by a suspect in an aggravated assault.
The force of the impact left him with a concussion and injuries to his arm and ribs. He's since recovered and back to work.
Nine officers received life saving medals. That included a group who talked a man out of jumping off the 25th Street overpass in July, those who revived a woman who had a heart attack following a traffic accident and an 85 year old man who choked to death.
