FARGO (KFGO-AM) A delegation of key players for the proposed Fargo-Moorhead Diversion Project heads to Washington next week for a series of high level meetings with members of Congress and the Corps of Engineers. Fargo City Adminstrator Pat Zavoral says the group's focus is on the status of the Federal Water Resources Development Act, known as "WRDA", that authorizes the iversion project.
Both the House and Senate approved versions last year but large differences are still being worked out in conference committee. The authorization is needed to get federal funding for the project.
Along with Zavoral, those making the trip Tuesday through Friday are Fargo Mayor Dennis Walaker, City Commissioner Tim Mahoney, Moorhead Mayor Del Ray Williams, City Adminstrator Mike Redlinger, Diversion Authority Chair Darrell Vanyo and Cass County Adminstrator Keith Berndt.
