MOORHEAD, MINN. (KFGO-AM) -- Construction begins next Tues. on Hwy. 75 south in Moorhead as a four-lane expansion project begins.
The work will be just south of 40th ave. to 46th ave. A new partial access will be built south of 44th. Storm sewer improvements are also planned. Hwy. 75 will remain open, but access to and from 46th ave. won't be possible at certain times.
It's a nearly $3-million project by the city and MNDOT. Work should be completed in early Sept.

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Motorists on Highway 75/Eighth Street between 40th Avenue South and 50th Avenue South in Moorhead will encounter lane shifts when a four-lane expansion project begins Tuesday, May 26, weather permitting. The Highway 75/Eighth Street will be expanded from just south of 40th Avenue to just south of 46th Avenue, and a new partial access will be constructed to the east at 44th Avenue. In addition, crews will make storm sewer improvements in the ditch along the west side of the highway between 40th Avenue and 46th Avenue and along the south side of 46th Avenue between Sixth Street and Eighth Street. Highway 75/Eighth Street will remain open to traffic in both directions, and the highway will always be accessible from 40th Avenue and 50th Avenue. Access to and from 46th Avenue will not be possible during certain phases of the project. Speed limits on the highway will be reduced to 40 mph through the work zone. Motorists are reminded that violators will be fined a minimum of $300.The project is a joint effort by the city of Moorhead and the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Sellin Brothers of Hawley is the prime contractor for the $2.9 million project. Work is expected to be complete by early September.
