BUFFALO, Minn. (AP) - The son of an Elk River police officer is accused of killing his father and brother in Wright County.

A criminal complaint charges Christopher Besser, of St. Michael, with two counts of second-degree murder in the shooting deaths of 49-year-old Todd Besser and 27-year-old Blake Besser. Wright County Attorney Tom Kelly says he plans to call a grand jury in June to seek first-degree murder charges.

The complaint says Christopher Besser called 911 from a Kwik Stop in Monticello Saturday to report the shooting and told a dispatcher he "just lost it.''

Prosecutors say there was a confrontation between the defendant and his father in the garage of the home where the brothers lived. The complaint says Besser told investigators he snapped, grabbed a rifle and three rounds of ammunition from a gun cabinet and shot the two.
