FARGO (KFGO-AM) - Nearly two weeks after the Fargo city election, new Mayor Tim Mahoney and City Commissioner Tony Gehrig were sworn in Monday by Municipal Judge Steve Dawson.
Following the oath of office, the Buffalo River Dancers and Singers recognized the new city leaders with a traditional Native American honor song.
Gehring sat in with other city commissioner's at Monday night's meeting but wasn't able to vote because he didn't officially become a commissioner until midnight.
Gehring won the seat on his third try. Mahoney, a three term city commissioner, was appointed acting mayor on the death of Mayor Dennis Walalker last December and defeated Fargo businessman Brad Wimmer for the mayor's seat in the April 28 special election.
