
FARGO - (KFGO-AM) - Fargo's Fire Department fought fewer fires last year but the amount of calls were up. Fire Chief Steve Dirksen says his crews responded to 250 more calls for service.
Dirksen, in a briefing for City Commissioners, says most of those were medical calls and a result of a new method of dispatching calls to get fire trucks out of the station's quicker
Fire calls dropped by 30 last year. Chief Dirksen says fire losses for 2014 totaled $1.3 million, continuing a three year downturn, well below the national average.
