MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO-AM) - Defense attorneys have asked a Clay County judge to grant a new trial for Prince Jones, the man convicted of promoting prostitution with a 13-year-old girl at a Moorhead motel.
Jones' court-appointed attorneys say the jury was exposed to inadmissible evidence during the trial. They say confidential information was disclosed regarding the pre-sentence investigation of co-defendant Eyeesha Hinton. The defense also claims the information was known by prosecutors to be inaccurate.
Assistant Public Defender Mara Rausch wants a mistrial declared. Clay county prosecutors say a new trial is unwarranted.
Jones remains in jail awaiting sentencing.
