FARGO (KFGO-AM) - Three months and counting. Fargo City Adminstrator Pat Zavoral says that's the expected completion date for the new $12 million Fargo-Cass County Public Health building in the former Sunmart-CVS building at 25th Street and 13th Avenue South. Renovation work on the structure begain a year ago.
Late July will be the turnover to the city says Zavoral. The Health Department, police precinct station, coroner, and the city engineer's survey team should should be moved in by mid-August.
Public Health will take up the lion's share of the remodeled building. The police satellite station will have a small portion of what was formally CVS. The station will have two full time police support staff, and includes a walk up window for the public, and work stations for officers.
Once the Health Department moves from its current location on 3rd Avenue North, police will take over the building. Chief Dave Todd says headquarters is cramped and needs the space. The building is just across the street from the police department.
