BISMARCK (KFGO-AM) - State Senator Tyler Axness of Fargo says the amount of money is less than what supporters wanted, but a bill that's received final passage will help expand North Dakota's traumatic brain injury program
Axness says the measure originally contained $550,000 but a House-Senate compromise ended up funding $375,000 to expand the back-to-work program for head trauma victims. $50,000 will be used for a coordinator who will run the programs in Western North Dakota.
The bill is now on its way to the governor. According to the North Dakota Brain Injury Network, nearly 3700 people suffer a traumatic brain injury each year in the state.
