TIOGA, ND (KFGO-AM) A natural gas pipeline ruptured and exploded in North Dakota's Oil Patch. The pipeline, owned by to Hiland Partners, ruptured about 6 miles south of Tioga about 8:30 Monday night. It caused a massive fire and multiple explosions but no injuries.
Tioga Mayor Nathan Germundson is also a firefighter who responded. He says the blast was so bright it lit up the night sky like the sun.
Germundson says no buildings were damaged or destroyed. In fact, he says fire crews didn't even use any water. He says emergency shut off valves worked and the fire burned itself out. No other details are available on the exact cause of the rupture.
