OAKES, ND (KFGO-AM) - The longtime high school principal and activities director for the Oakes, ND school district resigned after he entered the home of a student without permission twice last month.
An investigative report provided to KFGO News through an open records request says Don Warren was found by the student's father in the kitchen of their home. He said he was looking for the student in connection with an unexcused absence from school.
A week later, Warren returned to the home after the student didn't appear for after-school detention. He took the backpacks of two students who were in another part of the house.
The report, from superintendent Josh Johnson, says Warren was called to a classroom by a teacher to deal with three students who were misbehaving. Warren told one student that he was going to "drop him like a bad habit" and said he was going to rip off his head and spit down the hole.
Warren resigned during a brief school board meeting last week. He'd been the high school principal since 1990 and the school's activities director since 2001.
