BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- The Highway Patrol Lt. who led the investigation into a deadly collision between a school bus and a freight train near Larimore has been placed on administrative leave while the agency investigates possible reckless driving.
Lt. Troy Hischer allegedly drove the wrong way on U.S. Highway 2 for about 4 miles the night of the incident. A log of 911 calls shows that Hischer told a dispatcher he was on his phone at the time.
The patrol is also looking into why Hischer's superiors weren't notified about the alleged incident until a blogger began writing about it.
