GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - Authorities have arrested five people in an investigation into trafficking of methamphetamine in Wyoming and the Dakotas.

The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation this week announced that police so far have arrested five Gillette residents.

Local DCI team leader Louey Williams says that the five are suspected of moving pounds of methamphetamine in the region.

The five have been arrested on federal charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute methamphetamine.

Williams says the five are in federal custody.

He says the investigation has been going on for about a year and continues. He says additional state and federal charges against the five individuals and other people are anticipated.
