FARGO (KFGO-AM) - It's like something out of a Tom Clancy novel and it's right here in Fargo.

Senator John Hoeven briefing local leaders on plans to secure $7.3 million for a new building at the Air National Guard Base to house the 119th's new, super-secret intelligence gathering mission operating in temporary facilities since launching a year ago.

The 200 member unit is seperate from the Happy Hooligan's Predator drone mission.

Hoeven says it's important that the men and women in fargo have the best technology as they lead the nation's cyber warfare effort.

Vice Wing Commander Colonel Brad Derrig says the intelligence targeting group gathers information by satellite and other sources, analyzes it and forwards it to appropriate military contacts.

Senator Hoeven says funding for the facility is included in the 2016 budget. As chair of the committee that oversee's funding for homeland security, Hoeven says he'll work to get the money for the facility approved
