BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) A Milwaukee man accused of bringing women to North Dakota's oil patch and forcing them into prostitution has been sentenced to nearly two years in prison.
U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland sentenced Levell Durr to 21 months with credit for time served. Durr must serve five years of supervised release after his prison term is completed.
Durr pleaded guilty in October to a charge of coercion and enticement. Authorities alleged that Durr used drugs and physical violence to keep the females compliant.
Durr admitted to convincing women to come to North Dakota and to placing ads for their services, though he said he did not use force.
A federal public defender was not available for comment.
