FARGO (KFGO-AM) - Local businesses are being warned to be aware of counterfeit money.
In the past week, more than a dozen fake bills have turned up in Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead. The currency looks and feels real because it's an actual bill. Fargo Police Lt. Joel vettel says someone is passing off "washed" $5 bills as $100 bills, making the fakes harder to spot.
Vettle says the investigation is making "headway" and should be solved quickly.
Police continue to check, believing there's more of the $100 counterfeit bills still in circulation.
