BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO-AM)  The North Dakota attorney general's office says the Lindahl Township Board of Supervisors violated the state's open meetings laws by not posting any notice of a December meeting.

Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says the board in Williams County admits it did not post any notice before its Dec. 8 meeting. The attorney general's office says it doesn't appear the board was trying to keep it a secret.

Stenehjem says his office received a request for an opinion from Joel and Stephanie Vagts about the issue. Stenehjem said in a ruling Thursday that a township is a political subdivision, which means it's a ``public entity'' subject to open records and meeting laws.

The attorney general says the minutes from the meeting must be provided to the Vagts for free.
