WEST FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- With demand on the rise, West Fargo is beginning to take a hard look at its future water needs.
Mayor Rich Mattern says several options will be considered including a partnership with Fargo for a new water treatment plant, buying water from Fargo or building its own plant.
Mattern says an engineering company estimates that a new plant would cost more than $90-million. He says water rates will go up under all options.
He's confident that the state will help pay for construction since its told the city that it can no longer use the acquifers that supply West Fargo with water now.
