MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO AM) -- The Moorhead City Council has rejected a request for nearly $41-thousand in funding for the public library.
The money would have been used to keep full hours, services, and staffing.
About a dozen people came to city hall last night to voice their support of the library.
However, in a close vote, the proposal to take needed funds from city reserves failed.
The city does plan to set up a library task force, hoping to find the needed money within the library's existing budget.
Reduced hours for the library will start this Saturday, and the library will no longer be open on Sundays.
