FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- A woman has been ordered to spend 60 days in the Cass County Jail for the death of her newborn son.
Reanne Pederson, 32, pleaded guilty to negligent homicide. Her son died at a Fargo hospital a day after she fell asleep while breastfeeding the boy at her West Fargo apartment. It's likely that she suffocated the baby.
Pederson told District Judge Frank Racek that she made a mistake and had a lapse in judgement. She snorted hydrocodone before she fell asleep and admitted to smoking meth days before giving birth.
Racek gave Pederson four months in jail with 60 days credit for the time she was in a drug treatment program.
The felony conviction will be on her record permanently.
