GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) Austin Ortega scored late in overtime to lead Nebraska-Omaha to a 3-2 win over top-ranked North Dakota in the National Collegiate Hockey Association on Friday.
Ortega notched his nation-leading ninth game-winning goal at 4:27 on a 5-on-3 power play.
The Mavericks (16-6-3, 10-4-1-1) blew a 2-0 lead in the third period before taking advantage of two ill-timed penalties in overtime on North Dakota's Colten St. Clair and Mark MacMillan.
Luke Johnson and Drake Caggiula scored in the third period for UND (18-6-2, 9-5-1-0). Caggiula's tying goal came with 48 seconds left.
Tyler Vesel and Avery Peterson scored for fifth-ranked and NCHC-leading Nebraska-Omaha.
Ryan Massa made 33 saves for the Mavericks. Zane McIntyre made 28 saves for North Dakota.
North Dakota was 1-for-7 on the power play.
